Beverly Joyce Mosby, soprano, was born in Columbia, South Carolina, where she received a Bachelor Education with an emphasis in Music from the University of South Carolina.  She received a Masters of Music Degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a Graduate Diploma from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music, and did post-graduate work in the Doctoral program at Boston University, School of Music. 
 
She studied German Lieder at the famed Schubert Institute in Baden bei Wein, Austria studying with Elly Ameling, Hans Hotter, Walter Berry and Ernst Haefliger.  Ms. Mosby has won numerous competitions including the St. Louis District of the Mid West Metropolitan Opera National Auditions, in the 1984.  She was also the first place winner of the Boston Leontyne Price Competition. 
 
She has appeared in recital in both America and Europe.  She made her European debut as Euridice, in Gluck’s Orfeo, in the Musik Verein in Vienna, Austria.  She was also a guest artist performing, with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Mozart’s Exultate, Jubilate.  Ms. Mosby has appeared in Boston’s Symphony Hall as a guest soloist with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and has performed with the Augusta Choral Society performing Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana.
 
Beverly is the former Musical Director of the New England Spiritual Ensemble, which toured the United States with appearances in Europe.  As a Doctoral student, she taught classes at Boston University.  She was the Gospel Choir Director at Bentley University for 13 years. The former Choral Director at the Somerville High School, she is now the Supervisor of Music and Theatre Arts for the Somerville Public Schools, in Massachusetts.
